SIGNAGE?

As the wife and I sat aboard the Maid of the Forth yesterday afternoon, sipping our respective whiskies -- I believe they were Highland Park and Jura, though our sadly departed friends on the outbound trip were Glenmorangie and Bunnahabhain -- returning from out visit to Inchcolm, the one time home of Walter Bower as he wrote the Scotichronicon, I looked out at the unfortunately present oil tanker being filled from a pipeline that traveled here from five-hundred miles away in the North Sea -- or so the informational audio recording told us -- whereupon I saw this sign painted in extraordinarily large letters and could not help but wonder for whom, exactly, this sign was intended.

Yessss! Good one.

Perhaps it's just because "smokers die younger."

I wonder if it might be for any young seals encountered in the North Sea who might be considering taking up smoking.

Or perhaps dolphins swimming too close to the flammable ship while indulging in their well documented tow-and-a-half pack a day habit.
